A plethora of poo!

Recommended Posts

I was amazed, and a little worried, about... not the amount, coz I was expecting that, but the variety of different colours and textures of poo that my hens produce!

I came across this post on another forum that I found really informative and has put my mind at rest... it would be great to have something similar in the FAQs section of out forum... (the Omlet guide does have this on a smaller scale)

Please don't look if you are having breakfast!

yup, I use a handful of bokashi per grub and a teaspoon or garlic powder for the smell :vom:

ive done that but with bokashi bran & poultry spice and i'm pretty sure there not touching the bran or spice  when i go to top up thr grub theres loads left, how do i get them to eat the required amount of bran ?

if i give them a chopped up tomato i do mix some in with that, not too much though or they dont eat that either

i read somewhere you should give them 125gm pellets a day and add 5% bran, thats quite a lot really. its not exactly heavy,

my chooks seem to do nice firm poos in the eglu at night so there easy to clean up in the morning but during the day they do a good mix of firm & runny/liquidy poos :vom: if they where runny at night as well i'd be worried something was wrong but i'm guessing its normal ?

The joys of looking at chicken poo  I'm a bit hit and miss with bran, like now as I've run out  but I tend to throw the bran on top and they do eat it although I know at first it took one of them to be brave before they all decided they liked it :) Same with treats as well. Oh, and if we are holding the treats they're even more interesting and edible then.
