WarrensWorld
Are we alone in having seen this half hour programme last night, (lied we recorded it and watched it at lunchtime.) It was about a Australian chap called Mark Tully, and his quest to save rare breeds of chicken. He tried to find a Sumatra chicken, and an Azeel chicken. There's a little more information here:- http://www.filmaust.com.au/rarechickenrescue/Press-kit_RCR.pdf Mark, suffers from depression too, A really interesting little programme. Apologies everyone unless you can get RTE, 1 you wouldn't be able to see it.......

WarrensWorld
You never know it might turn up on BBC 3 or 4. I'd never heard of a Sumatran chicken or an Azeel. I think I've heard of a Spanish chicken, but never knew that they were great layers. They're very good looking chooks too. The web site gives you a flavour of the programme, but you really need to see it. Anyone own a Spanish Chicken.......
mostin
Wish I'd seen it, sounds very interesting. It takes a lot of dedicated people to keep the chicken gene pool healthy and the rare breeds still going.
WarrensWorld
Wish I'd seen it, sounds very interesting. It takes a lot of dedicated people to keep the chicken gene pool healthy and the rare breeds still going. That's it Mark, wants to keep the gene pool healthy and viable. You never know when you may need it. I've emailed the production company. I hope they forward it to Mark. I'll keep you posted.....

Chook n Boo Mum
As has been said before, fascinating.....but are the bureaucrats a total pain...I understand they have to have rules and regulations, but surely in a country the size of Australia space can be found to house a rare breed collection like that without stripping it down to hundreds of 20 chook flocks Would certainly be interested to see the programme if it ever comes to our channels.
