batcatz
Hi, I'm new to this and haven't even chosen a coop yet! Am following some on ebay though. Which hens go well with a silkie? I am going to see some white silkies tomorrow! I plan to let the chickens in my garden while I am home and in the garden only as there are cats and foxes around. Trying to find something that will fit down the side of my house, but its about 3 feet wide and can be 6 to 9 ft long. I think the eglu is too wide. boo hoo. http://www.henhouseworld.co.uk/ch103.htm I like this one though. edit. just realised this one is too wide too! Just by a couple of cms. I am so excited! I may have to convert my 9x4 (empty) catrun into a temporary chicken home. Amanda Edited August 3, 2009 by Guest

Olly
Also you'd need to get behind the Eglu to open the egg-port and droppings trays. Maybe a purpose-built coop might be the answer - is that the only space you have available? Eglus look very funky in a garden setting! The run look like it gets wider to 5ft on the picture. I just edited my previous post as I have found 3 silkies! I was only planning to get 2 though. My garden is taken over by an aviary with 2 cockateils in it, a large cat run. and loads of triffid like veg. There is a decent amount of grass left for the chickens to eat though. There is another area but its in full sun all day (west facing) and is currently taken over by more veg! I could move it. hmmmm. Thanks, Amanda
