Hi guys,

One of my girls has started laying on the bars of the eglu! They have a comfy nest so I'm not sure why she has started this. She is very nosey so the only explanation is that she can't see much when in the nest! Any ideas how I can get her laying in the nest box again?

I have heard that golf balls or wooden eggs in the nest boxes help!

Have you tried placing a fake egg in the nest box? I believe some folk even use a golf ball.

Have you change the stuff you put in the nest box? If there are creepy crawlies in there, they know not to use it

Sometimes one of mine will lay on the bars if there's queue & she gets caught short.......usually they just shout if that's the case though !

There was quite a lot of shouting going on this morning which is quite unusual so maybe thats that! I will try the golf ball trick and see what happens!

Two days of golf balls and she is still laying on the bars! I am thinking of putting eggs in there as she is always the first to lay at about 7am so never see's Dolly laying her egg. Maybe this will give her a gentle shove in the right direction. My mum reckons that my attempts to stop Dolly going broody by putting a football in the nest has scared her into thinking if she lays in there is will lay giant football sized eggs!
