Prolapsed vent - am I getting it right?

Recently OH built WIR, so much easier to deal with the day to day routine but the idea was to attach the Eglu to the outside, have used 1" welded mesh in the panels and obviously a hole must be cut but what is the best way to securely attach eglu to run to make it fox proof?

You could bend the wire outwards and attach it with the washers and bolts in the same way that a standard Eglu run attaches maybe?

That idea did come up, like the idea of bolting it against run but I am worried that when mesh is cut and bent to shape that it wouldn't be very strong, was wondering if some sort of collar could be devised but don't really know what to use or how to go about it. What have others on here done to solve this problem?
