Could someone please explain what white vinegar is, is it the same as distilled malt vinegar Lots of my green clean recipes need it but I wasn't sure if they were the same.

Yes, they are both names for the same thing; vinegar without the colouring.

 

It's also possible to get "non-brewed condiments" with or without colouring, and that can be used too; eventually it's only acetic acid diluted in water.

If you have a Chinese supermarket nearby, they usually stock large bags of bicarb and big containers of distilled white vinegar cheaply. I can get bicarb in 3kg bags and 5 litre bottles of vinegar. These will last me 6 months at the least and are so much cheaper than buying from the big name supermarkets . The one in Peterborough I use also have huge sacks of washing soda and salt. Very useful .
