Spare housing in Leicestershire/Warwickshire

Recommended Posts

Hello All

Some of you may have seen our post in Chicken Clinic about our Gingernut Gladys - back from the dead!!

In short after 48 hours missing presumed dead she has returned with some injuries which do seem to be healing. At the moment she is in temporary accomodation in our old greenhouse where she is secure and away from the threat of bullying. She seems to be making good progress and even laid yesterday.

Our problem is we are off on holiday in one week and I don't think she will be well enough to go back in the Eglu and run with Maude by then. I don't want to inconvenience our chicken sitters too much and leaving her in the greenhouse will not be great if we have warm weather - I have removed a couple of glass panels to allow plenty of air in but still could get too hot.

Therefore I am wondering if anybody near to us is South Leicestershire may have a temporary home and run we could borrow for a week to keep her safe. If not I would think of splitting the run in half to keep them separate and provding either a large cardboard box or pet carrier with bedding in for night time. We have 3 metres of run so as a temporary measure, 1.5 metres each would be ok I think?

Any other suggestions/ideas would be great

Thanks all
