LaPoule
Can anyone advise me on how to find a good divorce lawyer? It's for a friend who lives abroad, but is a UK citizen, and involves about 4 different nationalities/ countries, so he needs a lawyer with experience of foreign laws! I tried calling the Citizens Advice Bureau, but no one answered the phone, and the local office is by appointment only (how do you make an appointment if they won't answer the phone ) I have searched on Google, but have no idea how to find out if they are any good! Olly
I'm afraid word of mouth is the best way to find a good one, however you (or your friend) can look here on the Law Society's website to find a solicitor. Look for a member of the Family Law Accreditation Scheme, or a member of Resolution, you could also go direct to their website http://www.resolution.org, but he'll probably need to phone a few - most provincial lawyers will not have much experience of dealing with overseas divorces, and he may need to go to a city firm.
