The girls have started attacking Lacey

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have a situation, all of my girls (8 of them) have suddenly started attacking poor Lacey. I got them up this morning and noticed straight away that they where acting odd. I watched them for a minute and Gemma jumped on Lacey, then the rest of them joined in. It wasn't just a quick squabble it was a really nasty, vicious attack. I watched them from the window inside for a few minutes and they just kept going for her. It got too much and I separated her. I let her back in the main run about 6 hrs later and they still went after her :?. So she is separated again. I've checked her over and she hasn't got anything wrong with her other than the pupils of her eyes have gone quite large in comparison to the others. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with her that the others can sense? She also did a very odd poo before- a bubbly lime green one :vom:.

The only thing I can think of is that something has given them a fright? The Red Arrows flew over yesterday, because of the Wirral show etc. I also noticed the beginning of a hole been dug by the run, could a fox have spooked them? It's very unlikely, Zara would have alerted me of any strange activity. It might have just been a squirrel?

Any ideas?

I have read that they do attack weaker chickens, it really is the down side of keeping chickens, when they are doing this it is hard to watch. Perhaps if you keep her seperated overnight any underlying illness might surface. But of course you cant keep her from them for too long.

It is a pity that it is not just one bullying. Good luck someone will come along with a brilliant solution
