sadietoo
Hi, I'm looking for three new girls asap. I live near Chichester, and SPR and LPH Poultry are both close by....does anyone have any experience of these breeders or can you recommend someone else in the west sussex, hants border area? Many thanks as always. Apologies if I have already posted this somewhere else....I thought I had posted to this board this morning but it seems to have vanished into thin air
Chook n Boo Mum
Hi Sadie, we got ours from Golden Valley Poultry which is near Guildford, bit of a drag but the girls are lovely !! LPH only have large breeds eg orps & marans and Orp bantams...I phoned yesterday re Pekin banties & he doesn't do them & had no idea who to recommend either SPR only have black rock and an attitude problem IMHO I'm sure a friend of ours get her chooks from Foxhollow Animal Rescue Centre in Hambrook, and I know Russell's Nursery in Birdham had some Pekin chicks from there earlier in the year.....may be worth a call? Good luck in your quest Sha x
Rhesus
I got 3 with the Cube and added 2 from Golden Valley too. Its worth the drive if you've got wheels. http://www.goldenvalleypoultry.co.uk/. Martin Wood nr Lewes might be another place to try. Haven't been there myself but check them out on the web http://www.martinswoodchickens.co.uk. Good luck with your search. No doubt you will be better equipped than the family we observed at GVP who didn't know the hens from the cockrels or what to keep them in but had turned up to buy birds! - Doris - Hilda - Marjorie - Grace - Elsie
Chook n Boo Mum
Si, Sadie has got her new girls from GVP, see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=51913 They are great up there aren't they, very patient....I bet customers like "your" family make them wonder what some people think chooks are.....they certainly aren't playthings and need to have a certain amount of planning attributed to them......sorry I'll step off my soap box ...that's better Where abouts in West Sussex are you then...nosey, sorry !!!? sadietoo
Sorry Rhesus and JackieB I managed to post this in two places . As Sha says, I went to GV on Sunday and got two lovely Goldlines who have so far settled very well (in spite of the attentions of the local fox population who seem to have laid on a special programme of welcome committee visits). When I visited GV they were chilling out after a morning course, and one lady had a chicken on her lap who was fast asleep (or farty leeps as our dd always used to say ). They really are great so interested and helpful. I won't hesitate to use them in the future. Anyway thanks again for your input and interestx
