Tombull10
Hiu guys, Just wondered if anyone can offer any advice with a poorly ex-bat. She's been a bit 'off colour' all day, just sitting on the egg box, not being interested in treats and just generally not being herself. She's been like this a couple of times before but always snapped out of it after a day or two. I've just lifted her out of the eglu and put her in the garden to see if I could tempt her into eating with some treats. She just stood for quite a while as though she was really straining hard to go to the toilet or lay an egg. After a few minutes and looking like she was goin to have a prolapse any second she passed what I can only describe what looked like as scrambled egg and a soft broken shell. She did seem to perk up ever so slightly after this and made a couple of funny squawks but then promptly took herself back off to bed. I'm concerned for her but I'm still a bit of a novice having only had ex-batts for 6 months so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I changed their diet about a week ago so wondered if maybe that had affected her but she has been fine up until today. I've just added loads of extra grit and oyster shell to their food in case she's maybe struggling to adjust to the change in diet and not getting all the nutrients she needs to produce a solid shell. Thanks for any help and advice guys. I can always rely on you!!
Redwing
Chickens will often go like this if they have a dodgy egg on the way, now she has laid it she should start to perk up Just keep an eye on her
