bongus
hello, just wondered, if i went away for 3 nights, would tweedy and deeley be ok in the run with the eglu door open...is this safe? and also would they get cold with the eglu door open overnight? obviously i would get someone to come and change food and water etc...cheers
Redwing
Yes they should be fine, just make sure the skirt is tight to the ground, I put a tent peg through the bottom loop of the door and peg it to the ground so there are two pins throug the door, that holds the door firm If your run clips are old they can get brittle so some additional ones or cable ties will hold the run together double securely They wont get cold, I never shut any of my hens in and they are all fine Be sure that whoever collects eggs knows that the eggport door needs to be clicked shut
Hen Watch
I went away last year in October and my girls were fine for a week with the eglu door open. As long as a chicken sitter comes in daily to check water/feed levels and collect eggs, they should be fine. I too have the skirt of the eglu run pinned down.
