mikk100
I have had a poorly Elsie on and off for a few weeks, she is all hunched then perks up and i don't think she's laying except the odd soft one. Anyway yesterday when I let them all out she didn't eat or drink just sat there looking cold so I put her in the small eglu on her own and left her yoghurt and pellets mixed, and also some weetabix because she normally loves that. There was no interest so I put a heatpad under the nest and left her there when i went to work. When i got in she was full of life and wanted to be let out with the others so I let her out and checked for softies or other eggs, no sign. I did however find something in the run that i can only describe as a shrivelled up finger!!! I thought it may be the soft shell all rolled up and baked in the sun so I prodded it with a stick, the stick went right into it and loads of fluid came out...it smelled bad . Before I had a chance to do anything else all the chickens came over very excited and took it away before fighting over it...it was gone in seconds..which made me feel even more queezy. Does anyone think Elsie could have passed this??????? Is it an egg???Would it have been inside her for ages just going rotten? Or is it some other kind of object from her insides that I don't want to think about it. She seems ok this morning if not a bit aggressive with the others. legend21
I think if she is happy and full of life whatever it was has passed through her and she feels better, I think it is a bit like their poos weird and wonderful colour and shapes Jackie
Egluntyne
It sounds like what is known as a 'lash'. She ought to start perking up now. She could have had a bit of a low grade infection in her laying tackle that she has managed to fight off, and she has now expelled the gubbins. There are all sorts of explanations. **Click**
