Lesley
You need to divide the run really to keep them separate. Our ducks rarely sleep in the duck house - they prefer to sleep outside and only go in when the weather is really bad.
Guest
Ducks rule OK! Oh my I have never kept ducks and chickens at the same time(except wild mallards) Anyhow I would seperate them too , their needs are so different as regards to housing. I acquired some mallards that were in originally with hens and drove the owner potty. The ducks stole all the feed, attacked the cockerel and bulldozed anything in their way! Hence how I came to have them. However my neighbour keeps geese/chickens/ducks all in a big shed together.Ducks and geese on the floor the chickens sleep on shelves in old fruit boxes(they all queue up outside to go to bed! indie
Janty
I keep my ducks in an eglu. Every night when I close up the chickens I shine a light at the eglu door and say 'bedtime'. The last few nights I have gone out and said 'bedtime' and they have taken themselves off into the eglu. Try training them...they are very intelligent. Guest
Creatures of habit most animals thats how they are trained repetitive and food. I know I did find once it was dark they just wouldnt go in at all but a light at the end of an eglu! Will remember that for the future indie
