docsquid Posted October 25, 2009 Share Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) They are showing off today - up and down, turning round, two at a time - it is very funny to watch. I was watching them last night. It is clear that Gwennie gets 3-D up and downy stuff better than the other two. She is the lowest in the pecking order but probably the most intelligent of the three. She is the pioneer, going up a few rungs, fluttering off, and then the others follow her. They did several attempts last night before finally settling, and it was very funny to watch Gwennie coming down to help Megan while Blodwyn was trying to go up! Maybe when people have had trouble they haven't had a chicken that understands "up" or a sort of pioneer chicken to show the others the way. Maybe it is worth sussing out who is clever and try and teach that chicken how to do it and she will teach the others. That's what I think Gwennie did for the other two. Also, I wonder whether we humans don't let them little feathered things sort things out for themselves because we are too over-cautious on their behalf.
