midgie
One on my Brown Lohmans, around 8mths old, has recently been prone to seemingly 'drifting off' to sleep during the day, especially if she flew up to somewhere 'roosty', like a windowsill. However she was otherwise lively, and eating, drinking and laying, so all seemed well. Today, though, she is very quiet - standing, apparently sleeping, under a tree, not ranging around pecking, not layed anything. I'm quite worried about her. Anyone know what could be wrong? I've got 7 hens in total, all others are fine. Poor girl!
chelsea
Could be any number of things really.... Has she been wormed recently? It could possibly be a soft shelled egg on the way, they make the hen appear hunched, quiet and a bit "zoned out" until the egg is passed. Give the hen the once over for lice, you would see them especially around the vent area. Is she moulting at all? My girls are quite quiet at the moment as they are moulting and a moult can take a lot out of hens. Hope she perks up soon.
