Slim
The weather is still windy but it is dry! I decided to build the run for the new arrivals, as you will see by the photo it is a basic setup. The cage is a dog cage this will have a nest box inside and covered with blankets and tarp also it is dry as it is under the shed. I will also bring this in at night. The rest of the run is fixed in place using cable ties two garden forks and tent pegs. My girls don’t jump so I think this will be high enough it worked before when I got new girls. Same as I put on the blog just a larger image don't say about the fence it belongs to my neighbors who refuse to fix it because they say tey cand see it!! the only fence in my garden not owned by me!!! docsquid
That looks great! Gives me some confidence that we could do similar here when we add to the flock.
Slim
That looks great! Gives me some confidence that we could do similar here when we add to the flock. I can provide designs at a small cost and rental of orange stuff!
docsquid
We've got yards and yards of orange stuff as we had to fence off trees while doing building work last year. I'm using it to keep the chooks off the garlic bed at the moment. We could easily use it to fence off an area adjacent to ChickenBase to allow new chooks to see the existing ones, and use a cat carrier or similar as a chicken house, or maybe rent an Eglu. The orange stuff does seem chicken-proof although they can jump!
Tutti Frutti
Another with orange stuff - it was meant to be temporary but is now the least glamorous decking ballustrade in the world (Must do something about that!) We're going to divide the WIR with it. I guess the trick is to not make it too rigid so they can't perch on it. They tried when we first put it up and had to flap their socks off to stay balanced so they soon gave up Good run Slim, glad preparations are going well
