kilravock
Hi, unfortunately we lost our Black Rock "Flo" due to a prolapse. (Btw does anyone know why Black Rock's are no longer available in the UK?). Today we got two new chicks from Costwold Chickens - a Daisy Belle (Pied Sussex) and an Amber Lee. I'm guessing the Amber Lee is also a Rhode Island Red/Sussex mix - is this correct? Any advice on these two hybrids most welcome!
Redwing
I dont know for sure but I would guess you are right based on the shape and laying ability of the Ambers, I would have guessed RIR x Sussex too I didnt know that Black Rocks were no longer available, I do know that only one or two breeders sell under that specific name (must be protected somehow) but others sell the same (or a very similar thing) under different names
sjp
I think Ambers are RIR x Rhode Island White Black Stars are the same cross as Black Rocks but from a differant breeder/strain it's not that they are no longer available it's that there seems to have been some short of problem with the supply by the sounds of things from comments and half comments on other forums
Snowy
The original Blackrock breeder has retired and they have only just found someone who is willing to continue his work
