Feeney1894
One of my light sussex chickens is laying eggs that have dull, rough shells but besides from that they are fine. She doesn't do it every time and sometimes only part of the shell is dull and rough. I'm not sure which chicken it might be. I have four, they are about 9 months old and are still laying despite the cold weather. They all appear to be acting normally. Is there something wrong or is getting a rough egg every few days normal? I'd be very grateful for any advice. Lis from Wiltshire
JanTheDiver
My Black Rock always lays rough eggs, so I assume it is normal for her. Sometimes the others lay slightly rough eggs then they go back to being smooth for a while. Not sure what causes the roughness but the eggs themselves are always fine.
