Unsecure chicken perches

Hi all,

 

I let the girls out at 7:30am and all was fine.

 

an hour later when i went to check on them and Lady Lay was standing in the Run with her head and tail down and slightly puffed out

 

She didn't even come over for some corn

 

I went back inside and came back out 30 mins later to find her in the nest box and she was still in there at 12pm so i thought she was egg bound, i went out and opened the egg port just as she laid a smallish egg,i checked her over and she seems fine,and eating up all of the corn she didn't touch.

 

So I'm just wondering, was she having trouble laying this egg and do i need to keep an eye on her?

Some of mine take that long some days.

mostly it is the same ones, perhaps they enjoy being there(or yours going broody)

others dash in pop it out a hop out again, no noise then 2 OMG have to shout and hollar and announce it is on the way and then tell the neighbourhood what CLEVER girls they are
