ScissorChix
Well got my chickens this morning well chuffed! I got 1 X Barnevelder(Noodle) 1 x Welsummer(Nutmeg) and a gorgeous Buff Plymouth Rock Bantam (Esme) whom i think might be the boss as she is very noisy and bossy! Considering it is "my project" (words of OH) my daughter was very vocal and told the breeder which chickens she thought we should have, She let me name one lucky me! I left the bedside light on for them whilst doing a shop and when i came back 2 were in the nest box so i turfed them out and put them on the perch. The other the welsummer is still in the run at the bottom. I'm guessing i am going to have to go in and get her and put her to bed because she is either stoopid or not in madams gang! Should i leave her or go in and get her?
Ophelia
She might not realise that that is where she goes to bed. I had to pick up put my ex-batts and put them in their house for their first 2 nights until they realised it was the place for them to sleep. emchook
I have an extension on my eglu run ...and I remember having to use a broomstick to get them in the first night ! Second night they were in bed on time on their own !
ScissorChix
Broomstick poking did not work tried that. Tried to hurriedly do it in the dark OOOERRR when chook was roosting but chicken was ready to leg it. In the end i had to get in ark nd post chook up through the hatch and stop it from roosting on my arm There as no way i was stayin in there all night. Then had to wait for OH to let me out so i could reposition chook who now had head wedged in boxed off nest box (They wanted to be in the dressing room sharing makeup secrets not the Bedroom) I hope i dont have to do this again tomorrow!
