Hubby has a lovely 125 scooter

 

After a few hiccups with nerves and falling off he is now riding it to work

 

....sometimes

 

He doesnt like riding it when its very cold as his hands get freezing (the rest of him is fine)

 

He has proper gloves and I bought some silk liners for them but he is still getting really cold hands.

 

Any suggestions for better types of gloves or any other tips in general anyone please?

My DH rides a bike (big) to work. His favorite gloves look like mittens split in 2. So the first and middle finger are together, then the ring and small finger. He says they keep him very warm.

 

He also has winter boots for less ventilation and more warmth, and he keeps his waterproofs with him at ALL times!!

 

He also has different helmets for summer and winter! Plus one of those material things that go round the neck to keep it warm.

 

Personally I think he just likes to change his biking wardrobe!

Haven't ridden a motorbike for over 25 years and then only a moped so can't really help .

Keeping your hands warm on a motorcycle can be a nightmare - I commuted on one for years.

 

The things I'd suggest are

 

a) Two-finger design gloves are much better than the four finger ones, and on a scooter you could actualy wear mittens, which will be even warmer, as you don't need two fingers for the throttle and two for the brake like you do on a non-automatic bike. They are called Hein Gericke Pathan gloves and I had several pairs and they were brilliant.

b) If your bike is up to it, heated handgrips. However this might be challenging to run off a 125cc - my bikes were 600 to 1000cc, so had more power available. Something like this. They really do work, and keep your hands like toast.

 

c) Handlebar muffs - look naff but work. They are available in lots of places. This is a link to give you an idea.

You can buy heated gloves at online bike stores at quite astronomical prices though I found some for £230

If you google heated gloves there are cheaper ones around
