jess1merlin
Just wondered if any one had managed to find a selection of plants that chickens do not destroy when free ranging in the garden. I know it is only natural for them to dig and peck but they do seem to prefer some plant to others.
chelsea
I have a "jungle" type garden. It has lots of bamboos, ferns, cordalines, phormeums, hostas, palms and similar type plants all around and mine do not touch them. Having said that all chickens are different so you may find that some are partial to the odd munch or two and some are not! They did eat my patio tubs/flowers though. Egluntyne
Lavender and twiggy herby plants are supposed to be chicken resistant, but as Chelsea says, it depends on the chickens. I've noticed that mine won't touch a cotoneaster that happens to grow in their area, and a yellow flower which has seeded itself there (several clumps of it in fact) No idea what it is called. Nor are they particualry fussed about Daffodils.
