Slabbing under a coop

Recommended Posts

I am having a coop and run at the bottom of my garden and I intend to have the area underneath slabbed over with concrete slabs so I can put auboise down. I am assuming the slabbing will be a good deterent against foxes digging under the run, but I just wondered how much skirting around the side of the coop would be needed? The run/ coop is 12 foot x 6 foot so I thought 1.5 foot extra around the side would suffice? (i.e. 15 foot x 9 foot of slabbing). Would you agree :?:

Also, if anyone knows of a reputable tradesperson in the Exeter area who could lay down the slabbing for me, please could you let me know? Thanks :D

Hi ISCA. I was chatting to my handyman about the same question today. We reckon half a slab outside of the run (so run wood sits half way across the slab - if you get my meaning). But this depends on how big the slabs are. I was thinking of the same size as Andrew - think those are 600x600 - but they may be 400x400.

Could do with a construction plan couldn't we?!

Anyway, I'll ask Tony when he delivers my WIR on Friday and will let you know then.

Cheers.

PS Am a bit further up the M5 than you - in village outside of Taunton. My handyman is a local chap and probably Exeter is a bit far!

Thanks Donna.

I have found a local gardener who is going to sort out my new garden for me (it needs a grass lawn instead of a moss lawn!!!) and he lays patios , so he will put down some slabs for me. I have asked for a 1.5 ft circumference around the edge of the coop and run, so 15x9 ft. area of slabs for the 12x6 ft. run.

That may help in clearing up the auboise too :D
