Poor Holly, despite being sprayed with Johnsons anti pek and her assailant being bumper bitted, still has large bald patches on her sides. Unfortunately the bald bits are now red and really sore looking and have started peeling, almost like a bad case of sunburn.

We've put Johnsons tea tree cream on but does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and how we can improve the situation?

Sorry, thought I'd mention we've used purple spray but it just seems to run off the bald patches and only colours the feathers nearby..

exposed skin does turn red in the sun, its quite a nasty inflammed looking colour but is normal and causes no problems for the chook, if your chooks sjkin is actually sore then coating it with the cream will help

 

A poultry saddle may help keep the wound clean and dry but be sure it wouldnt rub on the sore bits and make the situation worse

Whereabouts on her body are they exactly?

 

Could you cover them with a poultry saddle so that whoever is doing the nibbling can't get at the sore bits?
