Porkypie
One of our hens has been feather plucking so as a last resort we fitted a BB. The effect was immediate and the other two hens started to grow new feathers. Got home yesterday to find most of the new feathers having been plucked out I've just noticed that the BB has slipped down and is thus no longer effective. We've had a go at trying to adjust the BB but we just can't do it. Is there anyone fairly near Cambridge with more experience who would be willing to help if we came to you? GillC
I'm sorry to hear that. I live near Cambridge, but unfortunately I have never had a pecking problem and have no experience with bumper bits. If the bit worked to start with, but then seemed to slip, could it have been damaged in some way? Perhaps a new bumper bit might be the answer. Good luck with it. Falkor
Hi I am in St Neots so near-ish. Let me know where you are and if we can sort something I can pop over to see if I can help. I have assisted with bumper bits on my brothers hens some time ago. Are you using anti peck spray too?
Porkypie
Hi. Yes, I've been using Net-Tex spray but it hasn't seemed to deter her. I suspect she's been going for the ones that haven't been sprayed as much but I've tried to give them all-over sprays. Thank you so much for the offer, Falkor. I live a few miles north of Cambridge but I really don't expect anyone to travel to me - I'm feeling a little out of my depth with this and will definitely do the travelling.
