Isobel
Could anyone suggest what might be wrong with my oldest chicken please? She started to look rather inflated yesterday and was walking a little awkwardly I thought, more like a duck than a hen, and I could see her breathing more rapidly than the others (you can't notice them breathing actually but Felicity was puffing in and out a bit). She has been eating and drinking more or less normally but is slower than everyone else and this evening she had gone to bed long before the others and looked quite puffed out still. She has not laid eggs since last summer so I don't think she is egg-bound! I think I heard her cough yesterday once, but have not noticed this since. thank you for any help or suggestions. Guest
could be peritonitis, the fluid she is retaining could be pressing on her air scas. Best to take her to the vet as she probably needs baytril.
Chucky Mama
Hmm, I thought of peritonitis too. Best to get her checked out by a vet.
