Roobaloo
What does a chicken do most the day? I always assumed they would be scratting and pecking around from dawn until dusk...but every time I go out to my garden, my girls are just sat or stood doing nothing. As soon as they hear me, they burst into life...eat, peck and kick up the soil, and chatting away. Is that normal or are they're scared/insecure? Could they be bored? They also seem to have very little interest in afternoon treats. They go hell for leather at their growers mash first thing, then have the odd nibble throughout the the day...but they have almost zero interest in corn, greens or dried mealworms!!! They've had a light pick at some apple...
Mollie333
''but they have almost zero interest in corn, greens or dried mealworms'' oh my- my girls go mad for worms! i really can't help much but chickens scratt around all day- with there friends. i suppose they can get bored but as long as they have food around and a place to walk they should be fine. Roobaloo
So I saw from the video you posted!!! Suki will take the dried ones...only to drop it on the floor and ignore it. If you try and give her more, she'll walk away in a huff!! I'm half tempted to buy some live ones...see if the movement catches their interest!! LottieR
Are they laying yet? I found ours were much more interested in treats once they came into lay.
