Dolly
Saw the most weird thing yesterday morning, Roxy and Holly (top chook) were following each other round the garden in turn, then stopping while Roxy pecked (not particularly forcefully) Holly's face and comb, then they squared up to each other, moved away then started the process again but Holly doing the pecking to Roxy and so on. They both stood their ground while this happened, neither tried to run away. Later in the afternoon, they were back to their normal selves as far as I could see. OH thought it might be a power struggle thing but I can't see why as nothing has changed - they've not been separarted, no new additions, their surroundings are the same etc. Do they change pecking order for no apparent reason or was this something else? Any thoughts welcome! Thanks
Redwing
Often one hen will make a challenge on the top hen, its pretty normal, they can change pecking order yes
