mabelandflosmum Posted April 20, 2010 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Am worried about Mabel, my 20 month old Gingernut Ranger. She was looking very sorry for herself on Sunday, no appetite, no energy ,very lethargic. I took her to the vet who prescribed Baytril even though she doesn't have a temperature. She hasn't been much better and when I got home from work today I found that she is limping and doesn't want to put any weight on her left side. Has anybody out there any ideas or advice? theherd123 Posted April 20, 2010 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Im sorry to hear that Mabel is under the weather - dont they just make you worry! Baytril is a broad spectrum anti-biotic and so Mabel is most likely fighting off an infection of some sort. Did the vet give a diagnosis at all? Have you checked over her leg as there maybe something wrong with her foot. I would take a good look at her feet and legs and check she doent have anything stuck in the soft pad on her foot. Press gently and see if she seems in pain. Try and encourage her to eat & layers porridge is good to give a poorly chooks - layers pellets, poultry spice, bokashi bran & corn mixed with plenty of warm water. Anything which will tempt her is good. Have you tried any supplements? Avipro is a good 'pick me up' and I always use it when I have a poorly girl.
