Our 3rd Integration going well

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Just wanted to share this with you...

We got our two new girls (Violet and Lulu) on Monday 12th April...they have been in the Eglu and run since then...after 5 days I let them out for a little wander around in the freeranging area when the other girls had taken themselves off to bed.

During the day I have folded back the sun and winter shades so they could see out and the other girls could see them clearly. I've also been putting the treats between the edge of the Eglu run and the freeranging area and the second feeder and drinker right next to the grub and glug but with the Eglu run separating them.

Last night I put them on the middle perch in the hen-house with our other 6 girls (2 on the top perch and 4 on the bottom perch)...I popped Violet and Lulu back into the Eglu run at 6am while I showered...then at 10am I let them all freerange together...there have been a few pecks but nothing like the first integration (Mildred and Stella) which took 6 weeks...no major blood was spilt but we were novices and it showed

When we introduced Gertrude and Clara (our second integration) it took 4 weeks from when they arrived to them being totally happy with our other 4 girls...I think if this integration continues so well I will eat my best hat :shh:

Fingers crossed for harmony (well more harmony than not!) tomorrow  The secret is slowly for sure...I just love it when it all comes together

Very best wishes to all...

Lou :D

p.s. a water spray and a touch of Olbas oil (used once) have worked wonders
