I have two chickens (Gingernut Ranger type) which are about 2 years and 3 months old and looking in very good condition. Over the winter we saw a reduction in eggs but now the spring has come we have not see much improvement with only one egg ever other day . Is this because of their age or should we be expecting more and if so that can we do about it.

 

Any help would be appreciated

Have they been wormed recently? Sometimes a reduction in egg production can be down to that - though one egg every other day isn't too bad for a 2 and a bit year old hen.

Yes its one egg every other day from the two chickens, we think it may be one chicken which is laying. Some of the eggs are very thin and the chicken eat them as well.
