They are going broody and being bullied!

Recommended Posts

I have one Pekin sitting fast on 6 eggs and my other Pekin and a Wyandotte are showing signs of also wanting to be broody now! Jen has been broody for about 5 days, sitting on pot eggs, I today gave her six fertile eggs. Layer is lingering longer in the nest box and is clucking around the garden, just like Jenny did, however this seems to annoy the others and they are picking on her, just like they did with Jenny! Why is this, I don't remember my other broodies being targeted like this? Poor Layer has had her comb pecked and is scared of her former friends :( . She isn't going to be allowed to go broody though as the spare coop is firmly occupied by Jen, any tips on stopping her and the bullying (is it because she is broody)?

i have the same! my pekin cross brahma went broody and i put her in the broody cage for 3 days (which worked a treat :D ). Then my blue orp started  and she too was bullied by the others :?: . Then today my partridge orp and my buff orp started :wall: and the other non broody ladies have been running at the broody ones and pecking them :( .

i think it must be a hormone thing :?::idea: perhaps they smell different

its a good job my broody cage is a HUGE dog cage which i can split up using garden canes
