2009 Omlet cube and run for sale

My little Carrot seems to be unwell. She has been laying well and has done for the last 24 days, she has been eating well too; she normally lays early in the morning. I came home this afternoon and put some cat food out for them and she seemed to join in the frenzy to get it. I collected the eggs and noticed Carrot hadn't laid but thought she was just taking a well earned day off.

 

About 45 mins later I went out to clean the cube out and noticed she was sitting in the corner of the large run with her tail up and she seemed as if she was opening her vent a little then shutting it; nothing came out. She has been doing this now since about 5pm, she seems very listless, didn't eat the meal worms I put out but has been eating quite a bit of grit.

 

When she was in the cube run I noticed she pooped and the brown bit was normal but the white bit seemed more yellow than normal.

 

She won't let me pick her up and I don't want to stress her more than I have to. She did come into the cube run when it rained so I am hoping she will take herself to bed tonight.

 

Has anyone any idea what might be wrong with her, I was wondering about egg-bound but she doesn't quite fit the description in my book and never having seen a chicken with it before I am not sure if this is what is wrong with her.

 

Any advice would be great, thanks

Maybe, she took herself to bed but slowly.

 

I hope that is all it is, hadn't thought of that.

fingers crossed for a normal hen in the morning, if not re assess options, maybe vet visit appropriate.

Just to let you know she laid an egg in the cube run this morning, a bit of a funny colour with a bit of blood on the shell but it seems fine other than that and she is back to her normal chirpy self

 

They do make you worry don't they
