How do I electrify my netting?

Recommended Posts

Please can anyone tell me what I need to add to my electric netting to electrify it apart from obviously a battery. I bought the netting just as an extra run but now Im worried about fox attacks after reading all the posts on the forum also we have alot of dog walkers down our lane who let their dogs off the lead.Ive looked at various on line sites on line but they all seem to be complete kits. Also will I get into trouble if a dog comes under the hedge and gets a belt from the netting around the chickens?

Hi Daffodil

The extra bits you need will be a leisure 12v battery (unless you are going to plug it into the mains), an energizer (you need to make sure it will work with whatever power supply you are going to use) and an earthing rod.

A number of places sell these items - I got mine through flytesofancy and I got the actual netting from Omlet.

I found that all the cables (with the crocodile clips) came with my energizer (Gemini).

If you go down the battery route you will also need a charger.

HTH.

:D

I was going to add a reply, but you've said it all!!

I think if a dog has strayed onto your own land and it gets a shock then that's just tough! If you have a right of way going past the run then that's a different matter, but I think even then all you have to do is have signs on the fence at regular intervals.
