foreveryoung Posted May 16, 2010 Share Posted May 16, 2010 Hello I have 5 hens all about the age of 5-6 years (all basic browns) , they are looking rather scruffy and today I have noticed are looking slightly thin and some more then others, the thing is, they are all laying well, eating, pooping and drinking..... they have been wormed recently and treated against mite!!! they have food avalible for them 24/7 and fresh drinking water..... Egluntyne Posted May 16, 2010 Share Posted May 16, 2010 Laying hens put all their energies into producing eggs rather than plumping up, so it quite normal for them to be on the thin side, especially if they are hybrids. They may fatten up a bit during a moult, when they tend to take a rest from laying. Maybe a tonic such as Life Guard or Poultry Spice will give them a bit of a boost.
