stephent
How many chooks can you fit in a classic eglu? Thinking of getting one more? Advice please...
blackgold
I have 2 eglus in my walkin run and most nights all 6 of my hens sleep in just one. For the last few days I havent been shutting the pop hole at night. They do have a choice of 3 sleeping areas but prefer to cuddle together. The breeds are one large faverolle, 2 merrydale crested and 3 exbattery hens.
Olly
The Eglu will certainly sleep as many as five without problems - it really depends on your run size. If you have the Eglu run, then 2 hens in the standard run, 3 with a converter and 4 with a converter plus an extension, would be my advice. If you have a walk-in run, then you could manage more. Ain't Nobody Here
I have 5 in mine but they're not all laying so there's no queues for the nestbox. They used to all sleep happily in it but now choose to sleep outdoors.
