Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I am now going to get a pair of female call ducks.

 

I need to know of breeders in cambridgeshire area or around cambridgeshire within an 1 and 30 min - 2 hour drive.

Just checking, but you do know that they are very noisy? Just like a cockerel but more constant and more annoying

I knew they were noisy but not that noisy.

 

Is there any other kind of small duck ?

Oh what about mini appleyard ducks ?

Yep, pretty noisy!

 

Mini Appleyards are perfect little starter ducks. Good layers, quiet, small and very pretty. Probably your best bet for your first ducks.

My parents finally saw a proper set up at my friends. They have light sussex bantams and pekins with a small pond and 2 east indian black (i think their called) and they were so cute I wanted them but didn't know. Their WIR is smaller than mine so we want to do a set up like that.

 

 

What about the east indian blacks maybe aswell ?

Black East Indians are more ornamental. They will lay but not loads of eggs, roughly 40-50. Bit rarer as well so probably more expensive.

Oh ok well i will try and find some mim appleyard breeders near me.

 

It is so hard because cambridgeshire is more chickens not ducks so I am struggling to find any.

 

 

But thanks for helping me. Ducks are my dream.

 

I do have a hen on 3 runner duck eggs at the moment but im not keeping them if any are fertile which i find out monday I will either give them back to the breeder or give them to mums boss.

Hi i agree with tom i wouldnt go for calls my god they dont shut up thats why they are called call ducks because they are so noisy i dont think your neighbours would be very happy leanne

One set of neighbours keeps saying get a cockerel. So there fine but it is the neighbours on the other side and behind. The neighbours behind us are annoying because I hear them in their garden complaining about the hens little talking noises when I go out or the laying announcement but its not every second.

 

If they had a problem they should say instead of complaining in their garden.
