Lulabellx1
Hi All I am a newbie chicken keeper and have had 3 Light Sussex chickens livving with us for the past 2 weeks. They were 17 weeks when we got them and they have just started laying which is great. However, I have noticed that one of the hens has got a red spotty rash inbetween her toes. None of the other girls have got it and they all seem fit and healthy in all other aspects. They went into a brand new wooden house when we got them and I have been giving it a once over everyday and a proper clean at the weekend. Does anyone know what this might be? Thanks in advance for all your advice! Lu x

Redwing
Are you sure its a rash? As chooks reach maturity they can get red spots on their legs, boys in particular get this on the outside of the legs and toes but girls can get it too, its normal if a bit alarming
Lulabellx1
Thanks guys. It not red-mite as I can see that they are not moving around and the dots have actually really faded now. I thought it might be a maturity thing as their faces are not fully red yet (as you get with the Light Sussex) so I looked up some pictures of Light Sussex hens but from what I could see, none of them had red around their toes. It's a bit of a cunundrum! The other two don't have it still and it seems to be fading on Kelly?? Lu x
