chickenlady
Hi Ya, just a quick question, my Pekin is not keen on the bars in the cube!! Is this something that will change as she gets older ? This morning when I opened the door she was in the far corner, the other three came straight out, but she didn't. Left her for about 15 minutes then went back and tried to give her a little push, still not fussed. Much prefers being carried down and put in the run !! Any tips would be gratefully received. She is also not that keen going in there either (struggles with the ladder)...do they just get use to it ?
Happily
Hi, I got my four pekins yesterday and have a cube. When I first put them in yesterday they did not come down the ladder at all and in the end I put them in the run myself as I was worried about the heat. I was a bit worried about how they would get on with the ladder but last night they all put themselves to bed in the cube which i was very pleased and surprised with Then this morning I opened the door to the cube and left them for a while, after about 15 minutes 3 had made it down the ladder - some more successfully than others!! I am not sure Henrietta wanted to come down she was kine of pushed into going first by Millicent Poppy did not come down the ladder and just sat in the cube, she looked happy enough but in the end I put her down in the run myself. I think they will all get used to it, I have put a brick at the bottom of the ladder though as a step up to the furst rung. They don't seem overly keen on the roosting bars in the cube but mine are only about 12 weeks old so am hoping as they grow a little it will be easier - it hasn't stopped them moving around in the cube though so it's not causing them any problems As I say I have only been a chicken lady for two whole days now so am not an expert but thought I would share my experiences in the hope it helps x
