Britannia Ovens (esp Range cookers) your experience

Second week in May we bought 4 new POL chooks to go with our existing 10, 2 skyline, a pied sussex and a white star, the pied sussex and white star came into lay over a month ago, one of the skyline came into lay today but the last little skyline is just that, very, very small, incredibly boney and also pale around the face, no sign of colouring up prior to laying I have wormed them all more than once, especially the little one, she eats, is not noticeably bullied, but does have a mucky bottom. She seems to have improved a bit in the last two weeks since I noticed her lookingvery forlorn I really am at a loss.

 

She is not coughing, gasping, sneezing or anything like that, she sticks close to the other skyline, they seem to be best buddies and came from the same flock, she even sat with her friend when it laid its first egg

 

Please don't suggest i go to the vet,( I know I'll seem heartless but when all is said and done it's a chicken) but I will try any home remedies.

So far have tried, worming with flubenvet and diatom, apple cider in water, natural yogurt and honey, colloidal silver, garlic powder!!!!

 

Any other suggestions?

I dont think I'd try anything else, all the different things probably arent helping

 

She is probably paler because she is younger and until they start laying they dont tend to eat a great deal

 

Try some growers pellets or chick crumb to build her up a bit - it wont harm the others to eat that too as long as you mix it with layers pellets or have them available in another feeder. Cat food and rinsed tuna (no brine!) are also good sources of protein

 

Cut out other treats for now

 

Lastly check the coop for re mite just in case

She is the same age as the others that are laying and roughly half to one third their weight!!

They get no treats as such.

 

No sign of red mites, will look again tho'
