One Salmon Faverolles girl, one Salmon Faverolles boy and one Silkie don't know For the last week I have noticed that Muppet has no patience with Dilbert- the fav boy. I know that the mum will let it be known when she's had enough of the chicks, but this started at 5 weeks old and it's only Dilbert she picks on. She'll peck him when he jostles for food, when he walks past her or when he gets in her way , or even when he's minding his own business . She isn't pecking hard, but he gets the message and gets out the way. The girl ( Delilah ) and Silkie ( dandelion ) are still being mothered, she'll call them for food and is happy for them to snuggle up to her whenever, she hasn't pecked them at all. I've just checked them now and they are all in the nestbox, at least Dilbert is allowed to snuggle up at bedtime. But I'm wondering why he's been singled out for this treatment ? could it be because he's a boy ? if so, would that suggest that the Silkie is a girl as she doesn't get pecked ?
