Porkypie Posted July 4, 2010 Share Posted July 4, 2010 One of my hens 'pretends' to lay an egg each day. She gets up, eats, drinks has a dig around and goes into her house for a while but only lays an egg 4 days a week. My other two hens don't do this - they only go in if they are going to lay. Ain't Nobody Here Posted July 4, 2010 Share Posted July 4, 2010 I only have one regular layer and one occasional layer but all 5 often go into the nestbox (and sit on top of each other ) so I reckon it's an instinct even though no egg is being produced .
