I've had my girls for a week now... on the first day the youngest laid her egg - and we've had about 4 eggs from her so far, however we've only had 1 egg from the other one and that was on day 2 (we're now at day 7). I'm a bit concerned as she's very skittish, doesn't like any attention, and bullys the younger chook (who obviously doesn't seem to mind as she keeps layng!)

Is this normal behaviour? Will she settle down and start to produce some more eggs? (hubby keeps saying if she doesn't start laying she'll be out on her ear!)

Any ideas?

I remember when I got my first girls. It seemed to take weeks for the first egg, and then more weeks until they all started laying. It takes time.

just keep feeding them their layers pellets/mash, and once they do start, you will soon have more eggs than you know what to use them for.

I know its hard having to wait for them to start laying, but I do think you're being a bit impatient with them  We got our POL 2 Warrens at the end of May and they have only started laying regularly in the last couple of weeks so it took them about 4-5 weeks to get into the swing of things  And I've heard of hens not starting to lay until 25-30 weeks old, depending on the breed. I'm sure they'll soon settle into a routine :)
