She won't leave the nest until all the eggs are hatched. You'll need to put some chick crumb and and water within her reach, make sure the water is in a shalllow dish , with marbles to stop the chicks from drowning.

good luck, it's so exciting isn't it ?

i think i am going to have to put some water in as she has never got off by herself, i have always had to lift her off. The problem is that she is in a rabbit hutch and the compartment isn't big enough for the feeders so i will find a little ramakin to put some in with some marbles. I dont think i was ever this excited at the births of my 3 children! Should i just leave her then for the next 24 hours to get on with it or should i check under her before dusk??

I left mine on the nest from day 18 and kept the door closed from day 19 with a drinker of clean water till the first hatchlings were 24hrs old then put the feeder in then I opened the door about 3 days later but that was because there was one egg left to hatch that turned out to be DIS if it hadn't have been for that I'd have opened up when the last hatchling was 48hrs old as it was really hot that week

I checked first thing in the morning and then at tea time I just lifted her off to the side had a look the let her get back on herself just becarefull once the chicks hatch as I lifted her off on day 22 and she had a chick in her wing that got lifted out with her

Thank you! i've been wondering about having a peek to see whats happened. Turns out i didnt need to earlier as i opened the Coop (rabbit hutch!) and a had 3 little chicks come to say hello, :D:dance: i am very suprised as it was only 12 pm today when i heard the cheeping! I will lift her off 2moro and move her into the little hutch bit at the side and remove any shells and see what is happening with the other 3 eggs. I guess if she were in the wild she would just sit for days!
