patsylabrador
Two of the bantams have gone broody again, usually all three go together but this time one hasn't. When I turf the other two out which is always funny, I push them gently out from behind and they look very affronted, the non-broody one rushes up and gives them both gentle pecks until they smooth out their feathers and start to behave normally. Do you think she's telling them off? It looks like she's cross with them.
Guest
If she isn't top hen she is trying to have a little peck to see if she is able to take charge. If she is top hen she is saying 'Don't you dare leave me alone'
patsylabrador
Rhys, you were spot on. The other two girls are coming out of being broody but Hermione has secured her place as top chicken. She takes charge of everything, the other two even wait for her to finish with the treats now. I wasn't really aware of having a top chicken before but she didn't go broody and spent the time in evil planning! I always had her marked as the least intelligent but most loveable chicken - seems I was wrong.
