chickencam
I didn't know whether to put this here or ATN, but I though you growers would have more idea about glut situations. We seem to have several different types of cabbage planted a few weeks apart all coming to maturity at the same time I love cabbage but with all of natures other bounty at the moment, there is a limit to how much we can eat. I can feed some to the chooks, but too much aparently isn't too good for them, and it seems a waste. Has anyone ever frozen it and if so did it still taste ok? I am thinking of shredding and blanching it???
Olly
I don't see why not - I've frozen cooked red cabbage successfully, but that's slightly different. I would have thought shredded and blanched would work though. Or you could make sauerkraut!
Lesley
We've got the same problem - I was going to shred, blanche and then open freeze it on trays.
