Well, she stopped being broody in June, laid three (tiny) eggs and went broody again straight after! My so called Princess Layer, a lemon cuckoo (emphasis on the cuckoo) Pekin, has been broody for two weeks now. I have worked hard to break her, she has spent a week and a half in a guinea pig run on roosting bar (with food and water of course) - which worked last time, not this time though! I have been dampening her rump from time to time to cool her down, although she seem waterproof! Today I'm trying another course of action, she is still in the guinea pigs run but I have moved her onto large lump gravel that certainly seems to make it difficult for her to settle properly. I need to have her back to normal (?) by the weekend as I'm off on holiday and my in-laws are in charge for two weeks. I have separated the chicks from their mums successfully, the pecking order has been sorted, but then there is Layer!!!! The in-laws are slightly animal phobic so I wanted to make it as simple as possible - any quick fixes welcome

I'm sure some people will disagree but she might be one of these hens who needs to hatch out eggs to stop going broody so often.

I have hatched my one and only clutch this year, with two other broodies, so she is out of luck! She now seems quite comfy on the pebbles probably think she has got lots of eggs under her

Still broody oh well, off on holiday tomorrow, I've given extensive details (verbal and written) to my father in-law, not too sure how much has gone in. I'm sure they will be fine Who knows maybe Layer will have stopped being broody by the time I get back in two weeks!
