Hellcat
I have a friend who lives in married quarters and she is in love with my eglu. She has asked permission to have one in her garden and got a resounding 'no' from the people who administer the service married quarters (a mickey mouse organisation called Defence Housing Executive). She has asked if there is anyone in her position who has an eglu with permission in their married quarters garden as she could not convince the jobsworth idiot she asked that the chickens would be pets, like a couple of rabbits in an ark, not 'livestock/poultry keeping" as described in the DHE rules bible. Anyone out there who can help?
Happymama
Hi, Helen Did 12 yrs myself (you get less for murder these days!) and can assure you that no poultry will usually mean no poultry. She was daft to ask. She would probably have got away with it, neighbours depending, if she hadn't!
SarahJo
Dad was in the RAF .. Pilot. And I know they allowed certain pets, my brother had a hen called Silky, who rode on the handle bars of his bike. Having said that .... I think NO would mean No in this case, you could re-apply .... but I would not try to be sneaky about it, they will only make your life . Can she apply to a Station officer or similar type person, who is more in charge of the base, than just housing . Just a thought ..

SarahJo
Maybe some truth in the Officer comment ... BUT ... as I remember things were a bit more relaxed and family friendly then anyway. . He used to bring crates of Peaches home for all the kids, and the mars bar rations etc, handed to the crews. Unfortunately everythig has gone crazy for the point of being PC and generally for the good of personal well being and happiness ..... not just in the forces . Hope you get your hens ......
