jens cakery
Is this wierd? Barbara (Miss Pepperpot) has just laid an egg with what appears to be purple spots in a band around the middle! At first I thought it was because we use shredded newspaper to line the nest, but it does SEEM to be the way the eggshell has formed, rather than things being stuck to the outside. Very exciting but hope there's nothing wrong.

Jools
My Indian Game x French Marans lays the occasional egg like that too. It's almost as if the shell is more matt / porous than usual and I wonder if it's blobs of pigment that haven't been applied properly earlier in the process? They don't rub off and are different to speckled eggs, but they taste just a scrumptious.
